Personal Finance Management After Bankruptcy^SM Internet Study

ByDesign has developed the Internet Study option for people who do not have high speed Internet access at home, or who cannot, due to timing or location conflicts, come to a ByDesign office for the workshop.

For the Internet Study, participants read Personal Finance Management After Bankruptcy^SM and then take the quiz--all online at either their attorney's office or at facilities provided by ByDesign at four sites--Los Angeles (Commerce), Sacramento, Stockton or Fresno.  Expect this entire process to take approximately two hours.

By participating in our Internet Study, attendees will earn a certificate that meets the requirements of the new bankruptcy reform legislation, BAPCPA, for "pre-discharge debtor education." ByDesign is approved to issue certificates [evidencing completion of a personal finance management course] in compliance with the Bankruptcy Code.*

Information shared with ByDesign staff will remain strictly confidential, as explained in our privacy policy.

How The Internet Study Process Works:

• Schedule a time to visit your attorney's office or one of ByDesign's offices to complete the program.  Speak with your attorney’s office or call 800-750-2227 ext. 164 to schedule a time or walk in to ByDesign during regular business hours.  Either way, please make sure to allow 90 minutes for the entire course study. 

• Arrive on time to your appointment and notify your proctor that you are ready to begin the Personal Finance Management After Bankruptcy^SMprogram. 

• Go to ByDesign’s online Educational Product Store and purchase Personal Finance Management After Bankruptcy^SM course.  Please note: we can only accept debit cards (not credit cards) for this purchase.

• Read the Personal Finance Management After Bankruptcy^SM course materials. Once you have read the materials, you will click to link to complete an online quiz.

• Have your proctor complete the Proctor Certification indicating that you have completed the course. 

• Send the certification to ByDesign.  ByDesign will process and email your certificate within one business day.

The cost of the Internet Study program is $40.  In those cases where it is established that clients are unable to afford the costs for bankruptcy counseling or bankruptcy-related financial education, the agency will, on a case-by-case basis, provide the services at a reduced price or, in extreme circumstances, for free.  Please call us at (800) 750-2227 for further information.
