Senior Counselor in Los Angeles, Sacramento, Stockton and Fresno Regions

Reports To: Regional Counseling Manager

SUMMARY OF POSITION:
The Senior Counselor will be responsible for counseling and educating clients on debt management, budgeting and all aspects of credit and housing related issues. The Senior Counselor will completely and efficiently analyze each client's financial situation and work with the client in solidifying goals and developing a comprehensive action plan, either by telephone, internet or face-to-face counseling. The Senior Counselor will demonstrate knowledge and proficiency in all forms of credit counseling, housing counseling, bankruptcy counseling and skill in some educational presentations and/or marketing local trade shows or other local community interactions.

QUALIFICATIONS: Must be bondable.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
College degree, or equivalent of a minimum of four years of relevant experience in a related field, i.e. finance, banking, lending, social service counseling, or strong customer service. Strong verbal and written skills required, as well as proficiency in basic math. The candidate must be computer literate and possess basic typing skills (recommended 30 wpm with accuracy). Must possess excellent people skills and be comfortable in recommending and encouraging clients to enroll in appropriate needs-based services and products. Each new employee who is, on the face of it, qualified for this position, will be hired as a non-certified Senior Counselor trainee. The Certified Counselor who is applying for the position of Senior Counselor will be required to complete a one-year introductory period and successfully complete a comprehensive course of training, including passage of the NFCC Books 1&7.
